The purpose of the church is to carry out ministry and the work associated with various ministries in the church. Ministry is defined as any activity or process whereby one influences another or a group of people with the Word of God. This could be done informally or formally. It might be teaching in Sunday School class or simply witnessing to a neighbor. The church has the responsibility to equip its members with the knowledge, ability and motivation to be involved in and do ministry. Other examples of ministry would include discipleship, bible studies, involvement in special activities such as VBS, or other children’s programs.
